World Monuments Day 2012 at Stobi

Regarding the World Monuments Watch Day 2012, on the 22nd of September, NI Stobi organized the event “Visit Stobi – Be inspired”. The main activities included workshops for aquarelle painting and mosaics with motives from the archaeological site. The paintings and the small mosaics were created by the students from the local elementary schools “Dame Gruev” from Gradsko and “Pere Toshev” from Rosoman as well the students from the international elementary school “Nova” from Skopje. Coventry Cathedral in Amnesty for Missing Stained Glass

Experts working to restore the ruins of Coventry's old cathedral have begun an amnesty for the return of pieces of its medieval stained glass windows.

The World Monuments Fund, which is overseeing the work, said that while cleaning and cataloguing the glass it was noticed some was missing.

The windows were removed from the cathedral before World War II but it is believed some glass was given away.

Restoring Ancient Monuments at Cambodia's Angkor Wat

Sasha Constable is admiring the carvings of the Apsara nymphs on the walls of Cambodia's most famous ancient temple, Angkor Wat. Every year, millions of visitors do much the same. The bas reliefs at this 900-year-old monument are remarkably well-preserved.

But Sasha is no tourist - she is a sculptor herself and a member of one of Britain's most famous artistic families. Her father Richard is a well-known painter - and she can trace a direct line back to John Constable.
